An Organization for Professional Counselors
in East Texas

If you're a professional counselor, social worker, or other mental health professional living or working in one of seventeen East Texas counties, you are invited to join our group. It's a great venue for meeting your fellow counselors as well as getting up-to-date professional education.

The Piney Woods Counseling Association (PWCA) is a division of the Texas Counseling Association and conducts its affairs in compliance with the by-laws of that organization. It is one of thirty-two chapters of TCA. TCA splits the state of Texas into five regions and PWCA is in Region IV. The purpose of PWCA is to enhance the development of counselors by conducting programs of education and advancing high standards of professional conduct.

Fall 2010 MeetingIt's a great group. We have 3 meetings during the year offering 12-hours of certified continuing education annually. What a nice way to meet other area counselors and keep up with what's going on. It's also a wonderful networking opportunity for job or client referrals.

Meetings are generally held at one of the area's college campuses. The colleges have been very good to us - offering their facilities for our meetings free of charge and occasionally, as budgets allow, providing lunch for the meeting attendees. Each meeting is certified through TCA for 4 hours of continuing education credit for school counselors and LPCs.

Attendees at SFAOur meetings are held from 9AM - 3:00PM with presentations in the morning and afternoon and a lunch provided. Meetings are developed and planned during August of each year with dates usually posted on the web site by September so members can mark their calendars and make their plans to attend.
